Updated Friday, Sep 17, 2010Interviewed with several attorneys (including lunch). At the end of the day, I was called into the partner's office. He told me that everyone had liked me and that they wanted to give me an offer. Pretty great feeling that day.
Interview was average difficulty and went great
Added Thursday, Sep 02, 2010On OCI day, I emailed the recruiter saying that I wasn't able to secure an on campus interview. She was very understanding and told me to just drop by the table. That day, a partner came and sat with me in the courtyard and explained the firm to me. Got a callback later that night.
Interview was very easy and went well
Added Tuesday, Aug 31, 2010Actually didn't get into OCI (didn't bid high enough).

Are you an immediate cut if you don't have M&A or business experience (applying as a first year associate), and are not from a T14 school? What qualities are they looking for? Any other tips?

Actually, I think S&C is one of the friendliest firms for candidates outside the T14. I worked with several associates from lower-ranked schools (although they were standouts where they were). S&C really just needs bodies. Their associates tend to be overachievers who are willing to put in long hours to get the job done right. That said, our work quality was always unmatched (honestly) compared with every other law firm I ever worked with.
